Welcome to Safety Smart’s Summer Update! We’re enjoying a relatively good summer here in the UK, and that means employers need to be aware of their responsibilities when it comes to working in high temperature. We share what you need to know in our latest blog. Plus the government are offering free Building Safety Training for Resident Directors, the BSI launches their new inclusive PPE standard next month in a huge stride forward for women in the industry, and the stats are on the up – but not in a good way as fatal injuries in the UK construction industry rise.

Free Building Safety Training for Resident Directors
The Building Safety Regulator (BSR) and The Leasehold Advisory Service (LEASE) have launched a free online building safety training programme to equip thousands of resident-managed high-rises across England with essential building safety knowledge.
BSI’s new inclusive-PPE standard to launch next month
A new safety standard to ensure the industry is providing personal protective equipment (PPE) that caters for women and minority groups is set to be launched next month.
The British Standards Institution (BSI) is expected to publish BS 30417 on 26 September to promote PPE “accessibility and inclusivity”.
