April is Stress Awareness Month

This April, Britain’s bosses are being invited to follow five simple steps to prevent and reduce stress in their workplace.

The Health and Safety Executive’s (HSE) Working Minds campaign has called on employers to support workers mental health during Stress Awareness Month.

Arco backs SHP campaign for PPE inclusivity

Major UK safety equipment supplier, Arco, has declared its support for SHP’s campaign to raise awareness of the need for inclusivity in workplace PPE. As part of its public affairs strategy, helping to shape the UK’s health and safety agenda, the company recently gave its support to local MP Emma Hardy in bringing this issue to Parliament.

Lives depend on asbestos action, says IOSH

 25 years on from the deadly material being banned in the UKFor Global Asbestos Awareness Week (1-7 April), the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) has renewed its call on the Government to work with policymakers, regulators, employers and worker representatives to increase awareness.

Company fined after employee crushed to death 

A company in Hertfordshire has been fined after an employee was crushed to death.

James Rourke lost his life after being struck and run over by an excavator at Sarazen Gardens, Brampton on 18 November 2019.

Investigation launched after Gogglebox star falls from height 

George Gilbey, a self-employed electrician who appeared on Channel 4’s Gogglebox TV show, died after falling from height at work.

Essex Police said that Mr Gibley “died at the scene” on the morning of 27 March at a workplace in Shoebury in Southend-on-Sea.

Construction firm fined after worker dies from fall

A construction company in Kent has been fined after a sub-contractor fell and died from his injuries.

Mark Tolley, 51, fell nearly two metres through an opening in a scaffold on 5 July 2017 while working on the construction of six houses on Smarden Road in Headcorn, Kent.
